State Sen. Neil Anderson (Moline) has again been named Republican Spokesman for the Senate Agriculture Committee as the 100th General Assembly begins.
“Agriculture is an important lifeline for my district, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working on these issues” said Anderson. “With everything from large companies like John Deere to small family farms, agriculture and related industries provide a lot of good-paying jobs to people in my area.”
The Senate has 26 standing committees, which are tasked with examining legislation and making recommendations to the full legislative body. Once legislation has been introduced, it is assigned to a committee. Only those bills that pass out of committee will be considered by the full Senate.
Anderson has also been appointed to serve on the Senate Transportation, Licensed Activities, Commerce, Energy, and Gaming committees.
“My committee assignments definitely represent the diverse interests of my district. In addition to a huge agricultural base, the 36th District also has a nuclear generating station, and serves as a transportation hub for the western part of the state,” said Anderson. “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of this district and work on the issues that matter to them.”
Additionally, Sen. Anderson has moved to a new office in the Illinois State Capitol. Anderson will now be located in M103D Capitol Building. His Springfield phone number, (217) 782-5957, will remain the same. Anderson’s district office, located at 1825 Ave. of the Cities, Suite 1 in Moline and the district phone number (309) 736-7084 also remain unchanged.
