Anderson on FY15 Budget Fix
State Sen. Neil Anderson joined a bipartisan group of legislators today in voting for a bipartisan solution to fix the funding shortages that state agencies were facing as a result of an unbalanced Fiscal Year 2015 budget.
“Today, we passed a one-time emergency solution to fill a hole in the FY15 budget,” said Anderson. “This is a fix that ensures the funding is there for programs that were facing devastating funding shortfalls like child-care programs, corrections workers and court reporters. Because of the bipartisan negotiations, and the bipartisan support this bill received, these programs will be have the funding they need to get through the end of the fiscal year.
“We need to keep in mind that this fix, which addresses our state’s emergency budgetary situation, is just the first step,” said Anderson. “Next, we will have to push for real, fair and fundamental reform so we can make sure we don’t’ find ourselves needing emergency measures like this in the future.”
